Harness Webbing

Inspect all harness webbing and stitching.

  • No cuts, tears, or fraying?
  • No heat or chemical damage?
  • No excessive abrasion?
  • All stitching intact?
  • No paint, tar, or contaminants?
  • No UV degradation (faded, brittle)?

Harness Hardware

Inspect all buckles, D-rings, and hardware.

  • Dorsal D-ring undamaged?
  • Chest D-ring undamaged (if equipped)?
  • Side D-rings undamaged (if equipped)?
  • Buckles function properly?
  • Grommets secure and undamaged?
  • No rust or corrosion on hardware?

Lanyard Inspection

Inspect shock-absorbing lanyard or restraint lanyard.

  • Lanyard type
  • Lanyard in good condition?
  • Shock pack not deployed?
  • Snap hooks double-locking?
  • Hook gates close and lock?
  • Lanyard length appropriate (6 ft max)?

Self-Retracting Lifeline (SRL)

Inspect SRL if used instead of lanyard.

  • SRL used?
  • Housing undamaged?
  • Line retracts smoothly?
  • Locking mechanism engages?
  • Snap hook undamaged?
  • Inspection label current?

Anchorage Point

Verify anchorage point requirements.

  • Anchor capable of 5,000 lbs?
  • Anchor at or above D-ring level?
  • Anchor independent of work platform?
  • Adequate fall clearance below?

Sign-Off

Equipment status and sign-off.
